John Henry Murison, age 78, was born on June 9, 1945, in Pomona, California, to proud parents Sylvania Domiani and Muris Murison. He peacefully passed away on May 15, 2024, in Hewitt, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.
John's journey through life was marked by resilience, adventure, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. Raised in California and Colorado, in his youth John would often be found fishing off Rainbow Pier or on the mound pitching high school baseball.
At the tender age of 17, John embarked on a new chapter of his life by joining the Air Force in 1962 where he served his country for 22 years. His bravery and dedication led him to serve his country with distinction, including combat duty in Vietnam, earning a Purple Heart. Despite having only a high school education, John's intelligence and determination propelled him to a successful career as an electrical engineer, where he dedicated 27 years of service in the private sector after retiring from the Air Force.
John's love story with his high school sweetheart, Judy (West) Murison, spanned an incredible 57 years until her passing in 2021. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and unwavering devotion.
An avid enthusiast of various hobbies, John found joy in building model airplanes, fishing, hunting, and playing golf with cherished friends Rod, Closey, Shaver, and Randy. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of obtaining his pilot's license, delighting in flying family members in a rented Cessna.
John possessed a natural talent for music and could play multiple instruments, including the violin, keyboard, guitar, and harmonica. His love for music enriched the lives of those around him and brought joy to countless gatherings.
A true adventurer at heart, John's passion for travel led him to create lasting memories for his family through month-long cross-country trips, RV adventures in the Rocky Mountains, and visits to Disney World with his beloved grandchildren. His fondness for casinos was well-known, and he could often be found at the craps tables or indulging in a round of the $1 Wheel of Fortune slots.
Known for his strong convictions and insistence on excellent service, John never hesitated to speak his mind. His discerning palate for quality extended even to the smallest details, as evidenced by his insistence on clean silverware when dining out.
John will be deeply missed by his daughters, Annette (Mario Echevarria), Robin Ann, and Christine Cara (Michael Daigler); his 10 grandchildren, Mark, Angelina, Sarah, Jessica, Cody, Jaime, Syerra, Gloria, Anthony, Miranda; and his 7 great-grandchildren, Summer, Autumn, Aiden, Dahlia, Asher, Augustine, and Vinny.
