Margaret Sanchez

July 14, 1938 — October 14, 2021

Margaret Louise Mondello Horn, 83, passed away on October 14, 2021 in the Baylor All Saints Hospital in Ft. Worth. Complications following a minor medical procedure led to heart issues which she was unable to recover from. She was born on July 14, 1938, in Little Rock, AK. She and her parents moved to Powhatan, LA where she was raised. She attended high school in Natchitoches, LA. and moved to Odessa in October, 1955 after eloping and marrying Joe C. Horn, in Jefferson, TX.

She had three children and wore many hats along the road of life. Wife, mother, Sears catalog desk clerk, school bus driver (ECISD), LVN, Odessa Realtor. In 1989, became owner/operator of Daniel Movers, Spring TX. After twenty years in business and some health issues, she sold her business and semi-retired back to Odessa, working again as a realtor for Sims and Guess. During complete retirement, she missed the trees and waters of east Texas so she moved herself to Conroe, TX and finally to Waco, TX to be closer to her family.

First and foremost, she loved Jesus. She accepted Him as her savior, was baptized, and became a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in 1957. She loved being a mom and attending church. She won many awards as a realtor, loved being a business owner and in later years, loved playing chicken foot and other card games. She also loved spending time with her family and sweet apartment friends in Conroe and more recently, her Tuscany Ranch friends. She was over the top in love with her grandkids and spent every summer as they were growing up having them all over for Grandma camp where she cooked and played endlessly with them. They pulled off as many crazy shenanigans as she and they could get away with. She moved into her great grandmother role with the title of Grammy to that generation. She handled it with the same pride and joy as she did her grandma role. She loved, loved people and never met a stranger. Those she met typically fell instantly in love with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Luke and Thressa Mondello and her step siblings, Corinne Palermo, Lela Rizzuto, and Frank Mondello. She is survived by daughters, Jo Williams and husband Leon, and Jennifer Wilson; Son, Craig Horn and wife Tanna; and stepson Albert Sanchez and his wife Jennifer; 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild.

A special thank you to all the medical personnel at the Baylor Hillcrest and All Saints hospitals. They provided exceptional love, care, and support for her. We would also like to thank all the support that we received through prayers, calls, cards, texts, and Facebook posts. Your thoughtfulness and kindness will forever be in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held in the Waco Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2 PM. Clydel Chapman of Northside Baptist in Odessa will officiate her service. There will be no visitation or graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a favorite charity.
