Obituary

Georgia Mae Heitmiller Willis, 88, passed away October 17, 2022, at the Regent Care Center of Woodway.  She was born on February 22, 1934, in West, Texas to Henry and Pauline (Roth) Heitmiller. Georgia grew up in West, Texas and graduated from West High School in 1951.  After high school, she married Vance N. Willis on Christmas Eve, 1951 and they were happily married for just short of 68 years.

Georgia was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting afghans for the family.  For many years, she worked for the Driver’s License office at the Texas Department of Public Safety, where she helped many of her daughters’ friends through the process of getting their first driver’s license.  After retiring from the DPS, Georgia cared for her young grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vance N. Willis; parents, Henry and Pauline Heitmiller; brother, Harry Lee Heitmiller; sister, Allene (Heitmiller) Ashleman; and youngest daughter, Kelly Layne (Willis) McClain Stanford.

Georgia is survived by her daughters, Vana Lynn (Willis) Smith and Laura Lee (Willis) Schag; grandchildren, Ryan McClain, Caitlyn McClain, Whitney Stanford; four great-grandchildren; nieces, Mitzi (Heitmiller) Urbanosky, Myrna (Heitmiller) Jezek; nephew, Eddie Ashleman; and numerous other relatives.
