Wanda Joyce Dugas was born in Waco, Texas on January 14, 1939, to the late Rev. Isaac Albert & MayDell Carter and passed away on February 23, 2022. Homegoing Service will be held Thursday, March 3 at 2:00 PM at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, March 2 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

Wanda was raised in Waco, McLennan County, Texas and attended the Waco public schools including her alma mater, AJ Moore High School, where she was part of the graduating class of 1956. From there, she went on to attend Tyler Beauty College received her cosmetology license in 1957. Wanda was a faithful member of Toliver Chapel Missionary Baptist Church since childhood. She participated in various auxiliaries at the church.

Wanda had a beautiful giving heart as she showed through her contributions through tithing and giving time to various charitable organizations. Wanda spent her time wisely throughout her life. In addition to working in her trade, she worked in the Waco Independent School District before becoming an entrepreneur and opening her own, Wanda’s Beauty Salon. It was there that she most enjoyed meeting and helping others in her community.

Wanda was an active participant with her alma mater through the years and since retiring from the beauty industry, she remained active in her community by attending various activities and spending time with friends and family and being devoted to her husband. Wanda loved spending time with her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother, always calling and having positive words to share with her calm quiet spirit that made her special to family.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Brian Keith Dugas, her brother, Algie Carter, and her great-grandson Bri’odrick Dugas.

Wanda is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Lloyd A. Dugas; Children: Kenneth (Gwendolyn) Dugas of Rowlett, TX, Julia Robbins of Houston, TX, and Roderick Dugas of Waco, TX; Daughter-in-law: Cynthia Dugas; Grandchildren: Bachel Dugas, Brian K (LaKendra) Dugas, Jr. and Bronshae (Erica Brown) Dugas, Brandon Dugas, Natasha Chambers, Gary Chambers, Pebbles Ledbetter, Frederick, Danielle Robbins, Victoria Dugas, Brittany Lewis, Billy Lewis; Great Grandchildren: Averiana Young, RJ Young; Jaymion Keith Dugas, Briah Kendall Dugas, Jayce Keith Dugas, Keyonna Dugas, Bronsha Dugas, Bryce and Riley Dugas, great-great grandchildren: Brooklyn Dugas, Amir Washington, Grayson Lewis, Ryan Lewis, and Jacob Lewis; numerous other devoted nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
