Teri Leigh Thompson, age 66, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on June 3, 2026, at her home. She was born in Galveston, Texas, on October 6, 1959, and spent her youth with her family in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Hawaii and New York. She developed her musical talents throughout her schooling and was accepted into New York City’s famous Music and Art High School. However, her family moved to Connecticut, and she attended Ledyard High School instead, graduating in 1977.
She entered service in the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1978, serving nearly six years at various posts in the United States and Germany, ultimately earning the rank of Sergeant. During her tenure, she performed with the Air Force entertainment program Tops in Blue several times. She also performed in the worldwide USAF talent contest in 1983, and was selected for an entertainment showcase that toured throughout Europe.
Teri was a singer/songwriter/musician and continued to perform in the Houston area in some capacity for many years. She was an avid supporter of local talent and volunteered much of her time and effort into promoting their success. Her love and enthusiasm for all things music will be greatly missed on the Houston music scene. Please know that you were, in her words, “my music people” and she spoke of you with fondness and pride. You enriched her life in so many ways, and we are grateful.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne Royden and Junetta (King) Thompson and nephew, Ethan Thompson. She is survived by her brothers, Michael Thompson and wife Paula, Dennis Thompson and wife Andrea; nieces and nephews Lauren Domangue, Eston Thompson, Stevi Li Domangue and Scully Ru Domangue. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Her memorial service will be July 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Waco Memorial Park, 6623 Interstate 35 S, Robinson, Texas 76706.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bay Area Youth Singers at https://bayareayouthsingers.org/donations.
