Roger Redmond

April 27, 1951 — August 16, 2021

1st Sergeant Roger E. Redmond USMC (RETIRED), age 70 of Eddy, Texas, passed away on August 16, 2021 and is headed on his final adventure. Roger was born and raised in Amsterdam, New York. Roger was a highly decorated United States Marine Corps 1st Sergeant who served his country faithfully for over 20 years. Upon retiring from the USMC, he was employed by the City of Waco, Dwyer Group, and Edoctec Technologies, Inc. in Information Technology for over 20 years. He was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1969.

Roger was an avid camper and outdoorsman; he loved camping off the grid, off-roading, overlanding, and traveling the United States and internationally. He recently completed his goal of visiting all 50 states. He enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with his family and friends. He was happiest being out in nature and in his camper with his wife Susan, and faithful dogs Diesel, Sydney, Jake, and Jax. He especially loved his time with his daughter Sandy, son Scott, and grandchildren Isaac, Erin, Rebekah, and Anna Rose. Roger loved to cook and prepare camp meals with his camping group. He will be missed by his countless travel buddies and celebrated around many campfires.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; William and Jesse Redmond, parents; Edward and Elaine Redmond, and sister, Bonnie Kenna. He is survived by his wife Susan Redmond; daughter, Sandy Martinez and her husband Armando; and his son, Scott Redmond. He is survived by his sisters, Amy Marotta and her husband Wayne, and Paula Sumigray, his brother Edward Redmond and family. He is also survived by grandchildren Erin Redmond-Correa and her husband Ricky, Isaac Redmond and family, Rebekah and Anna Rose Martinez, great-grandson, Zander Redmond; 18 nieces and nephews, 29 great nieces and nephews and several cousins. Roger’s request was to be cremated; his remains will be spread across the country that he served and travelled throughout his lifetime.
