Mary Ellen Sherrard

Mary Ellen Haynie Sherrard, of Terrell, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on September 7, 1937, she was the cherished daughter of William Jasper Haynie and Erma Alta Hill Haynie. Mary lived a life filled with love, adventure, and unwavering devotion to her family.

On January 9, 1953, she married Billy Gene Sherrard, beginning a partnership that spanned nearly 72 years. Together, they built a loving home and raised four children. Billy preceded her in death on October 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment that continues to inspire their family.

Mary’s life was a reflection of her faith and devotion to God. She found strength, purpose, and peace in her relationship with Christ, and her gentle spirit was a testament to the grace she carried with her. Her faith was evident in the way she loved, served, and encouraged those around her.

She is survived by her sister, Linda Kay Haynie Baker; children: Marylin MacMaster and husband Hurley, Karen Roberts and husband Frank, Bill Sherrard and wife Michelle, and Tricia Luttrull and husband Eddie. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, each a living testament to the enduring love she nurtured throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Billy Gene Sherrard, her parents William Jasper Haynie and Erma Alta Hill Haynie, and her sister Ruby Lee Haynie Sitton.

Mary found joy in spending time with her family and in the beauty of the outdoors, especially during cherished camping trips in the Ozark Mountains. Her warmth, resilience, and gentle humor touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15th, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Waco Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 12:30 PM.

Mary will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. Her legacy of faith, love, and grace will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
