Mary Clarice Schrader, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away on January 7th 2026, leaving behind a life marked by dedication, pride, and warmth. She was born April 8, 1930, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Schrader (“Big Jack”), her sister Betty Davis, and her daughter-in-law Holly Schrader. She is survived by her son, Jack Schrader (“Jack Douglas”), and her cherished grandchildren, Cole and Zoe.
Mary was a lifelong learner and passionate educator. She attended Baylor University and earned her master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, becoming one of the first women to receive a master’s degree in business education. She dedicated over 50 years to teaching, advocated for young women entering the workforce, and was the first teacher in Waco ISD to have a computer in her classroom.
Mary later worked at Baylor University for more than 30 years, including at the Armstrong Browning Library, and retired in 2022 at the age of 92. She was a devoted member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and was known for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for her family.
Services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Waco Memorial Funeral Home, visitation at 12pm and service beginning at 1pm. All are welcome.
