In Loving Memory of Mary Louise “Lulu” Hughes (1936-2024)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Louise Hughes, aged 87,
on April 30, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Louise was a beacon of joy and
kindness, touching everyone with her warmth and generosity.

Born in Waco, Tx on July 16, 1936, Louise spent her life nurturing those around her.
Married to the love of her life, Jerry Hughes, for an incredible 71 years, their union was a
testament to enduring love and mutual respect. Together, they built a family foundation
strong enough to support not only their four sons, Wayne, Rick, Dale, and Randy, but also
a legacy that extends to eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Louise's spirit was characterized by her unending sweetness and love, and her ability to
make each person feel uniquely special. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where
she made countless meals and desserts, always having something to feed a guest, and
where she imparted wisdom and laughter in equal measure, though many will argue in
favor of more laughter (she was wonderfully quirky). The stories and conversation
shared over her delicious homemade meals are cherished by her family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on May 6, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
and a Celebration of Life service on May 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Both services will be held
at the Waco Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, where we will share memories and
honor her remarkable life.

Louise leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever resonate in the lives
that she touched. She is proudly survived by her husband Jerry, two sons Rick and
Randy, siblings Keith Gaylor, Elois Moncus, Judy Grimm, and Don Gaylor, and a long list
of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her memory will be a
guiding light to all who knew her, a reminder of the profound impact one life can have.
