Mary Lou Hoeffner, 89, of Hewitt passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024. She was born in Clay County, TX in 1935 to Fred and Leondena (Graf) Hoeffner. Mary Lou attended Waco public schools and graduated from Waco High in 1953. She worked many years for General Motors Acceptance Corporation in Waco, retiring in 1992. Subsequently, she worked part-time as the bookkeeper for the Columbus Avenue Baptist Church (CABC) Child Development Center.

Mary Lou was a long-time member of CABC and a faithful participant in the Sanctuary Choir there. Prior to that she was a member of Central Baptist Church in Waco, where she served as organist for many years.

Mary Lou will long be remembered for her love of her Lord, Jesus Christ, her love of family and friends, her love of music, her positive attitude, and her love of playing games, especially “42.”

She resided at Stoney Brook of Hewitt for the final six years of her life.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her cousins: Bruce Lampert and wife Barbara of Abilene, TX; Byron Hoeffner and wife Janet of Watauga, TX; Kent Hoeffner of Waco, TX; Keith Hoeffner and wife Margie of China Spring, TX; and their respective families.

Her life will be remembered and celebrated at a memorial service on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 11:00 in the chapel of CABC.
