Marc Lester Houser, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Robinson, Texas, on November 12, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous fight with cancer.
Marc was born on June 13, 1943, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, to Jane Sherman Houser and Josiah Lester Houser, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up with his two brothers, Jack Houser of South Park, Pennsylvania, and Kent Houser of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, who survive him.
Marc shared 35 devoted years of marriage with his wife, Tammy Houser, his partner and constant support throughout his illness.
He was the proud father of three sons: Marc Houser of Burnham, Pennsylvania; Stephen Houser (Aug 22 1970–Feb 7 2016), and his widow Michelle Houser of Houston, Texas and Joshua Houser and wife Lauren of Crawford, Texas.
Marc also leaves behind a loving group of grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Zachary Houser and his wife Laine of Burnham, PA; Cindy Goggins and her husband Jerry of Old Forge, PA; Dannale Houser of Houston, Texas; Jillian Bowman of Hagerstown, Maryland; and Grace, Ava, and Ellie Houser of Crawford, Texas; along with a number of great grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Marc held many jobs and embraced each with grit and dedication. He was an avid horseman for many years, training Tennessee Walking Horses with pride and skill. He later worked as a book-binding machine operator until his retirement. After retiring, Marc fully leaned into what he considered his “semi-professional” golfing career—spending four days a week on the course with friends and loving every minute of it.
Marc was a loyal sports fan with big opinions and an even bigger sense of humor. He loved Duke basketball, followed any Major League Baseball team, and passionately rooted for anyone playing against the Dallas Cowboys. Above all, Marc was one of the hardest-working men you could meet. He never turned his back on a job that needed doing or a person who needed help. In his later years, he became a devoted “Texas Grandpa,” attending every sporting event, cheering through countless dance recitals, showing up for special dinners, and spending quiet evenings reading to his granddaughters before bed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 7th at 3pm at Bear Ridge Golf Club, where family and friends will gather to honor Marc.
Marc’s life was defined by loyalty, kindness, and a steady, reliable presence that will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished.
