Larry Dale Wells

April 4, 1944 — January 9, 2026

Waco

Larry Dale Wells, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was born on April 4, 1944, in Oilton, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, in Waco, Texas. Larry led a life filled with cherished memories and significant milestones which he shared with those he loved dearly.

In 1957, Larry met his wife, Doris Rowena Stout, in a rather remarkable fashion when she rescued him from a swimming pool. Their instant connection blossomed into a beautiful romance, culminating in a loving marriage on June 20, 1964, at the Community Church of God in Stockton, California. Together, they navigated life's journey, supporting each other through every chapter.

Larry's life took a new direction when he and Doris moved from California to Robinson, Texas, to be closer to their daughter, Quinta. This move was marked by a deep commitment to family and community, highlighting Larry's devotion to his loved ones.

Larry was a man of many interests. He found joy in the excitement of watching wrestling on tv, he had a passion for classic cars, and a delightful hobby of collecting coins. His love for reading books enriched his life, and he took great pleasure in caring for his Cocker Spaniel, Peanut. Larry looked forward to attending Baylor Bear football games and cherished time spent at the HOT Fair and Rodeo with Quinta and her husband, Rodger. He especially enjoyed watching mutton busting and barrel racing, experiences that brought him joy.

Larry's legacy will live on through his surviving family members, including his sons, Kenneth Wells and his wife, Sunny, and Rodney Wells; his daughter, Quinta Robinson and her husband, Rodger; and his grandchildren, Jacob, Emma, Heather, and Jordan Wells.

Larry is remembered with fondness by all who knew him, not only for the love he shared with his family and friends but also for the courage and warmth he brought to the lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde E. and Pauline Hague Wells, and most recently his beloved wife of 60 years, Doris Rowena Wells.
