Larry Michael Devers

June 14, 1951 — October 26, 2025

Lorena

Larry Michael Devers was born on June 14, 1951, in Waco, Texas, to Roland and Nannie Fay Devers. After a courageous fight with respiratory and congestive heart failure, Larry—best known as Dad and Papa—went to his eternal home on October 26, 2025, at the age of 74.

On June 14, 2025, Larry celebrated 50 years of marriage to the love of his life, Cindy—a milestone and gift they both cherished deeply.

Larry is survived by his wife, Cindy; his two daughters, Samantha McMillan and husband Clint, and Ashley Roberts and husband Collin; numerous grandchildren whom he adored; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was the #2 brother and is also survived by his oldest #1 brother, Stanley Devers and wife Betty; #3 brother, Ricky Devers and wife Leigh Ann; and #4 brother, David Devers. Growing up, Larry shared a fun—and often mischievous—childhood with his brothers, creating memories that still bring laughter to this day.

Larry was most proud of his wife and daughters, and especially of being “Papa” to his grandchildren. His goal every day was to make people laugh, because that’s how he enjoyed life. He never met a stranger and was lovingly known by many as “Trouble.” Around town, Larry was recognized as one of the best upholsterers in the business, trusted by local interior designers and furniture stores. His upholstery and woodworking skills were true works of art that he took great pride in.

Larry loved collecting Hot Wheels and die-cast cars, restoring classic vehicles, and, in later years, relaxing with Cindy while watching westerns and MASH*—all while giving his loved ones and friends a hard time, always in good fun.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Baylor Scott & White for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Larry in his final days.

Visitation will be held on November 3rd from 5–7 p.m. at Waco Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of Larry’s life will take place on November 4th at 11 a.m. at the same location, with a reception to follow. The family asks that attendees dress casually and wear a fun t-shirt that Larry would have loved.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in honor of Larry and the loved ones he cherished.
