John Cleo Price Sr. was born September 5, 1931 in Dallas, Texas the son of Clifford Cleo and Johnnie Evelyn Taylor Price. Coach Price as so many have known him by, was the Hillcrest High School in Dallas Head Baseball Coach. Baseball and working with his players were one of his biggest passions and legacy. He not only helped mold the path for his ballplayers into better men, he worked with kids to semi-pro baseball players that had given up on baseball due to arm injuries, “EVERY” player he worked with through his OLD SCHOOL science and techniques were able to throw again without pain and was still working with players in his 80’s. After retiring from DISD he started teaching and certifying Texans in concealed carry with Big Iron in East Texas and he played as much golf as he wanted. John was raised as a Master Mason in 1972 at Duck Creek Lodge in Garland. He and Sandra retired and moved to Lake Athens and he joined Athens Lodge, the Sharon Shrine in Tyler and the Scottish Rite. When his love of 57 years passed away, he moved to Waco to be close to his grandkids and great grandkids. He joined Crawford Lodge and the Karem Shrine and was a member of the Motor Escorts. He was a loving husband and dad we loved and we were proud of, and a Popa who loved playing with his great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra and sister Marion and his parents.
John is survived by his two sons Johnny Price and wife Carla of Waco, Jerry Price of Iowa City, Iowa, two grandchildren, Savannah Cates and husband Shane, Luke Price and wife Lizz, and three great grandchildren Leah Price, Shyanne Cates and Skylar Cates. We LOVE you and miss you Dad/Popa.
