John D. Blackburn, Jr.

John D. Balckburn, Jr., 75 of Waco, passed away May 4, 2022 at a local nursing home. He will be laid to rest alongside his sister, Karon Phelps, who passed on September 26, on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Waco Memorial Park.

John was born August 18, 1946 in Waco to John D. and Shirley Blackburn. He graduated from Midway High School, and received his Bachelors degree from the University of Texas in Arlington. He worked as a teacher, a postal carrier, and was in medical sales.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece, Tamara Romano.

Those who survive John include sisters Sharon Romano and husband Mike; nephew John Surley; and nieces Nikki Oates, Christi Tharpe, and Gina Jones.
