James A. Scoggins

James Arden Scoggins, age 60, of Waco passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family Friday, March 10, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Waco Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Larson officiating. Entombment will follow at Waco Memorial Park in the mausoleum. Immediately following the committal service, everyone is invited to attend a gathering to celebrate James' life at Knox Hall, located at 100 Texas Ranger Trail, Waco, Texas 76706, where a catered meal will be provided.

James was born February 1, 1963, in Farmers Branch, Texas to F.P. "Pete" and Huguette Vidalis Scoggins. He was the youngest of three children to include Stella and F.P. Scoggins. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1981, and shortly thereafter began his career in law enforcement. Prior to his passing he was the Unsolved Crimes Program Supervisor, Texas Ranger Division.

James was preceded in death by his father; Pete Scoggins.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lydia; daughter, Katie; son, Jack; mother, Huguette Scoggins; siblings, F.P. and his wife, Yvonne, and Stella Evangelie and her partner, Scott Suprenant; brother-in-law, Reuben Yzaguirre and his wife, April; parents-in-law, Ralph and Laura Yzaguirre; as well as several special nieces and nephews and their families.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care given by the Amedisys Hospice Care Center staff, particularly Leslie, whose constant care towards James in his final days was incredibly compassionate and exemplary. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the Texas Rangers Association Foundation for their generous assistance and support to our family during this difficult time.
