Henry Franklin Berg, 91, of Mount Erie, Illinois, passed away on November 26, 2023 in Temple, Texas. He was born on November 11, 1932 in Mount Erie, Illinois to Bedie and Pearl Berg.

Frank was raised in Mount Erie and carried a fondness for his hometown and siblings.  After graduating high school, he continued his education at Southern Illinois University.  There he studied engineering, joined ROTC, and was on the basketball team.

He met and married Dollie Mae while at James Connally Air Force Base.  He taught shop and English at Richfield High School as well as the Methodist Children's Home in Waco.  Military assignments sent him from Waco, Texas to Dover, Delaware until he retired to Abilene, Texas.

Frank served in the Air Force and was revered by his fellow fliers for his expertise.  He served his country during the Vietnam War in Spooky Operations.  He was a navigator on the C5 and co-pilot on C130 across the world.  He was a certified Bush pilot, and an avid aviator.

Frank had a wide range of hobbies and club memberships. He was an active member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, VFW Abilene, and Shriners. He enjoyed being a private pilot and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Frank will be remembered by his children: Cathy Riojas, Patricia Berg, David Berg, and Darrell Berg.  He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will cherish his memory.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Dollie Berg, his dear parrot Buzz, and his siblings Dewey, Bedie, Carrol, Zula, Helen, and Irene.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the William Courtney Veterans staff in Temple as well as Compassus Hospice for the remarkable care shown to him toward the end of his life.

A funeral service to honor Frank's life will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 1pm at Waco Memorial Park in the Mausoleum Chapel, located at the back of the cemetery, in Waco, Texas.
