Gracie Faye Baker

December 30, 1944 — October 1, 2023

Waco

Gracie Faye Lewis Baker, 78, of Waco, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2023.  Services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 11:00am, at Waco Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a brief graveside service, with Larry McDonald officiating.

Gracie spent many years married to Jay Baker, and they were the greatest love story of all times!  They enjoyed life, traveling, camping, RVing, and bowling; but the thing they loved most of all was dancing!  For many, many years they could be seen waltzing across the ballroom at the Karem Shrine events.  One of her greatest joys was being at Jay’s side, as he proudly performed his many duties as a Mason, Shriner, and Scottish Rite.  Their most memorable time was in 2009, as they served as Potentate and First Lady of Karem Shrine.  They loved helping others and never failed to step up to any request, including numerous trips transporting patients to the Shriners Hospitals.  They could always be seen together, attending functions, and proudly serving as members of countless Shrine units.  They had many happy years together, always laughing, singing, and spreading joy and love to everyone they met.  They were a beautiful example of real, true, undying love!  Gracie also served as a member of the Merak Temple No. 104, Daughters of the Nile.

Gracie was the best mother, meemaw, and great-meemaw!  She loved her family and would travel any distance to attend her grandchildren’s events, or just spend a few weeks watching them grow and excel in life.  She loved life and truly cherished each and every day that the Lord blessed her with.  She was always an example of resilience and strength.  Even in her times of illness and sorrow, she never failed to bring others hope and joy.  She loved to laugh, and her family and friends were truly blessed by her beautiful smile and her kind, generous, loving nature.

Gracie was preceded in death by her wonderful and loving husband Jay Baker; her parents; her three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughter Kerrie; three grandchildren Nikki, Britni, and Sean; great-grandson Finn.
