Hewitt

Mr. Frank Howell Watson, age 75, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at his home in Hewitt, Texas, surrounded by his loving wife and three children.

Mr. Watson was born in Repton, Alabama on July 10, 1948, to Joseph Clinton Watson and Lucy Howell Watson. He was the youngest of seven children. Frank graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1972 with a degree in mathematics. In 1968, Frank married his lifetime bride, Glenda Joyce Watson, and together they raised three children: Wynn, Derek & Kendra Watson.

In the late 70’s, the family moved to Waco, Texas where Frank spent twenty-five years working at Mosley Machinery. Starting in 1992, he owned and managed the family business, Steamatic of Central Texas, for over two decades. Frank loved watching sports and cheering on his children & grandchildren in football, baseball, and basketball. He enjoyed sunrises at Cedar Creek Lake, growing vegetables in his garden, and fishing on the dock with anyone that would visit. Frank would spend most nights holding his wife’s hand while sitting on their patio swing, sitting by the campfire he always had burning at the lake, or tuning into late night shows of Gunsmoke on the television.

Frank is best remembered for a firm handshake, his ability to fix anything, and his endless jokes. Frank was a member of Hewitt Methodist Church for 46 years. He loved attending Sunday service and Wednesday Men’s Breakfast, and he served on numerous committees throughout his lifetime.

Mr. Watson is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Clinton Watson and Lucy Howell Watson, and four siblings: Arlo Watson, Elizabeth Salter, George Wayne Watson, and Palmer Buddy Watson.

Survivors include: his wife, Glenda Watson of Hewitt; three children: Wynn (& Ellen) Watson of Axtell, Derek (& Cathy) Watson of Jewett, and Kendra (& Billy) Couch of College Station; two sisters: Louise Nichols of Mobile, AL and Thera Conner of Mableton, GA.; four grandchildren: Sydney (& Jim) Rhodes, and Wesley, Wade, & Kenzie Couch; three great-grandchildren: James, Joy, & Juniper Rhodes. Frank loved his bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jessica, Grady, Jed & Gentry Norton; Kevin, Shelby, Arrow & Boone Potts; Josh & Courtney Reeves; Travis Reeves; DeeDee & Kyle Slaton.
