Erika Huber Mills

April 2, 1934 — March 21, 2024

Waco

Erika "Huber" Mills, aged 89, passed from this life into Eternal Heaven during the early morning hours of Thursday March 21st 2024, at Providence Village Hospice Place. Erika was born in Augsburg, Germany on the second day of April 1934 to Josef and Josefa Huber. Erika also had an older sister Traudl and a younger brother Kurt. Erika was the last living member of her family from Augsburg. Erika met the only love of her life SGT. Billy Aden Mills of the United States Army, while he was stationed in Augsburg. During his deployment, Billy and Erika fell deeply in love and were married there on the 9th of July 1952. Billy was honorably discharged from the Army on the 29th of September 1952 after which the newlyweds left Augsburg to move back to Billy's hometown of Groesbeck, Texas. Billy was always an independent thinking man and found the perfect job as a route salesman for rainbow bread in Groesbeck and the Groesbeck area. This is where two of their precious daughters would be born, the first was Becky Jean brought into this world on the 8th of October 1953. The second daughter, Beverly Sue arrived on the 24th of November 1955. There in Groesbeck is where this family remained for several years, when Billy took a promotion which required a move to Bremond, Texas, where they remained for several more years until a further promotion required them to move to Waco, here they would remain. Then on the 24th of September 1962 yet another precious daughter was born, Gertrude Billie, the last of the three daughters. During Erika and Billy's marriage Erika proved to be the ever beautiful devoted loving housewife and mother to her family. Erika supported Billy's decisions in any way possible through her position as his loving wife, as Billy would support Erika's advice. Erika had an unmatched devotion to her husband that would stand the test of time soon enough, when after 28 years of marriage, Billy suffered a severe stroke in September of 1980 which would leave Billy paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair, from which he would never recover. This would require Erika to be his devoted sole caretaker for her husband for the next 25 and a half years, until Billy's passing on the 21st of February 2006. Erika is now reunited with Billy in heaven and she can enjoy the wonderful pleasures that only heaven will provide. May God bless her beyond measure and her eternal life and may God bless her precious love and memories within our dear loved ones she's left behind, to cherish her memories of days now past. Dear Heavenly Father, comfort those that mourn her passing in this life that has now ended here on this Earth, but will continue onward for all eternity with our Heavenly host and our father Jesus Christ.

This kind of practiced devotional love is mostly unheard of. What an amazing example of Christian values Erika displayed day in and day out, year after year, decade after decade. May God shower this extraordinary lady with his Almighty love and Gifts, who was an obedient child to God with her vows as dear Erika was. Devotion above selfishness in the eyes of our Dear Lord AMEN.

Erika had a very special friend who deserves recognition - Susi Palladino who was a time-tested dear true friend for over 63 years. Erika would want to recognize Penny Crow for their special friendship. Erika touched many other friends and family members who are not here today, with many who have already gone before her. May God bless their memories as well. AMEN, AMEN.

Erika is survived by three daughters; Becky Anderson (Earl), Beverly Pingleton and Billie Bell (David); five grandsons, Eric Anderson, Dustin Anderson, David Lewis (Christine), Colt Bell (Laura), and Cameron Bell (Jessie); ten great grand children, Kelsie Anderson, Hayley Anderson, Hannah Anderson, Holden Anderson, Declan Lewis, Olivia and Luke Bell, Jack Bell, Sam Bell and Annie Bell.

Last but not least, let us not forget Erika's simple joy for the past 11and half months. This honor goes to Buster, her canine friend who brought her amusement and pleasure.  He will miss her...
