Eduardo was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico to Amada Laboy. After growing up on the island, Eduardo enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. He soon met his former wife, Juanita Garcia and began a family shortly after. Eduardo's military career would be cut short after a field training session left him hospitalized, this would lead to an honorable discharge with a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, and Expert Badge in Rifle M-16. He would then live out his days in retirement back in Waco, Texas. It would be then that the Acevedo Family would expand.
During this time, Eduardo would then begin his journey in fighting with addiction. Eduardo was sober for 36 years and during this time he gave of himself selflessly. He was an avid speaker all around Texas, speaking at engagements and giving his testimony. Eduardo would serve others and give hope to those who felt hopeless during their toughest times.
It would be then, that he would meet the woman that would walk the rest of his journey this side of heaven, Tina Wingo.
Eduardo was a big personality and he lived out his days just as big. He loved to sing, dance and music was his passion. He was proud to be from La Isla Bonita and enjoyed sharing his culture with his family, both in cooking, dancing and history.
Eduardo led such a life that he didn't allow the Parkinson's to steal his joy. He fought hard for 11 years and didn't give up until his very last breath. Eduardo leaves behind a legacy and there are many that will forever be touched by his legacy.
