Duane I Lucas, 89 of Waco, TX, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at Waco Memorial Funeral Home. A private committal service will be held later in Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Sharlan Sledge officiating.
Duane was born in Beardsley, MN, on May 14, 1936, to Michael Lucas and Christine (Lucas) Strickland.
Duane was a Veteran of the United States Army and served proudly after he was drafted in 1959. He went on to have a career of many years as a lumber salesman working with various local homebuilders before retiring from Foxworth Galbreath in 2004.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Pat, his son Mike Lucas (and wife, Robin), and daughter Kim (and husband Chris Metz). He is also survived by three grandchildren, Alyssa Kane, Jacob Martin, and Colton Lucas, and one great-grandchild, Silas Kane.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents and all nine of his siblings.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of 4 South at Providence Hospital, along with the Hospice team, for their incredible care and compassion during his final days.
