Concepcion “Connie” Morin Almanza, 79, of Waco passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am on Thursday, July 13 at Waco Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Waco Memorial Park. Pastor David Tenberg will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 12 from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
Connie was born January 14, 1944 in Waco to the late Juan and Dionicia (Morin) Martinez. She was educated in the local school system and attended TSTC where she earned a degree in Horticulture. She worked at Lake Air Interiors for several years and was able to show off her skills at making custom made drapes. Connie was exceptional at baking and was known for her pies, pound cakes, cookies, and all kinds of treats. She loved floral design and working in her garden. She had the most beautiful roses and could grow nearly anything, especially squash and all types of peppers. She made homemade pickles, peach preserves, jalapeno jelly, cactus, and even wine from scratch! She taught her children all about composting and how you can create life from scraps.
There were no pretenses with Connie. If she liked you, she showed it and if she didn’t, you knew it. She taught her children how important family is and that sometimes you must make sacrifices and put others first. She loved unconditionally. Her family was everything to her. She cared for her mom throughout her life and the bond between her and her siblings was like no other. Every loss in her life was like a leaf falling from a tree, yet she stood tall and strong and carried on. She suffered with severe arthritis, but never let that slow her down. She continued to show her love for others by baking and you would often see her driving around in her little yellow car.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Elies Martinez, Johnny Martinez, Monico Martinez, Maria Chavez, Rostia Flores, and Esther Reyna.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy Ochoa Morales and husband, Jose, Norma Ann Marez and husband, Francisco, and Arthur Lozano, Jr. and wife, Eva; siblings, David Martinez, Eva Monrial, Bernadina Salazar, Ruben Chavez and wife, and Anna Snelson; grandchildren, Anthony Lopez, Maritza Phillips, Nicholas Nieves, Paul Rodriguez, Pete Rodriguez, Fabian Rodriguez, and Arthor Lozano, III. She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
