Cheryl Lee Brown – a compassionate and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and First Lady – was called from labor to reward on October 4, 2025, in Temple, Texas. She will be remembered for how fully and deeply she loved, always ready to shower her family in affection and extend her gorgeous smile to a stranger. Above all else, Cheryl's life was defined by her devotion to God, family and her extraordinary gift for making everyone in her presence feel cherished.
Born on March 10, 1963, to Rev. E.L. Williams and AzerLee Miles Williams in Temple, Texas, Cheryl graduated from Temple High School in 1981 and attended Temple Community College. In 1984, she united with the love of her life, Dennis E. Brown, beginning a partnership that would span over four decades. As a devoted military wife, Cheryl created homes filled with warmth and love at Bitburg Air Force Base in Germany and Hill Air Force Base in Utah before the family returned to Texas in 1992. When Dennis was called to preach in 2008, she embraced her role as First Lady at St. Mary's Baptist Church in Mart, Texas with the same grace and dedication she brought to every aspect of her life.
Cheryl's caring spirit touched everyone she encountered. Whether serving others through her work at Blackland Research Center, IRS, Care West Clearfield, USPS, and TXU Energy, or ministering as Youth Sunday School Teacher, Director of Team Kids, Mission II Secretary, and St. Mary's Combined Choir member, she gave generously of herself. Yet her truest calling was caring for those she loved. She was a devoted caregiver, often traveling at a moment's notice to help family and friends in their time of need.
As a mother, Cheryl was her children's greatest cheerleader and most steadfast supporter. She volunteered at story hour, served as an avid PTA member, and took immense pride in celebrating every accomplishment, big and small. Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, love, and the irresistible aroma of her soulful cooking. She had a gift for transforming ordinary meals like lasagna and meatloaf into extraordinary family feasts. Cheryl nurtured every life she encountered: the hearts of her children and grandchildren, her flourishing garden, and her beloved pets (most recently her two Boxers, whom she affectionately called her "boys").
With her infectious sense of humor and charismatic personality, Cheryl had a remarkable ability to find joy in every moment and share that joy with others. A fashionista at heart, she took pride in always looking her best, teaching by example that showing up for life – and for the people you love – matters. She instilled a deep love for music in her children, composing family songs that became treasured traditions, weaving melodies into the fabric of daily life that will echo through generations.
Cheryl leaves behind a beautiful legacy of unconditional love, selfless service, and countless ordinary moments made extraordinary by her presence. She taught her family that love is not just spoken but shown – in home-cooked meals, in celebrating victories, in showing up, and in creating traditions that bind hearts together.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Bridgette Brown, and grandson Adrian Brown.
