Carroll Marie Crowder, age 34, passed away on May 1, 2024, after a long and valiant struggle with complications from a rare genetic disorder. She passed peacefully and comfortably into the presence of her heavenly Father, and is no longer enduring the pain that was part of her earthly life.
A memorial service will be held at Waco Memorial Park Funeral Home at 10:00 am, on Monday, June 17, 2024. For those who cannot attend, it will be live-streamed on the Waco Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery website. A recording will be available online at that website for 90 days following the service.
Carroll was a life-long resident of Waco. She attended Midway schools, McLennan Community College, and Baylor University. While her health repeatedly interfered with her formal academic pursuits, she remained a voracious learner. She was an avid and eclectic podcast and audiobook listener.
Before her health made them impossible, Carroll loved to have long conversations, play the viola and piano, do artwork, and sing. During her late childhood she was an avid karate enthusiast. She relied on the lessons of the dojo in her continuing efforts to overcome her illnesses.
Carroll was a Jesus girl. She believed strongly, loved well, judged little, and lived a life of acceptance and support - particularly for the kinds of people listed in The Beatitudes. She appreciated listening to The Bible Project podcast and valued their online courses. As her time on earth was coming to an end, she found comfort and new insight in the Same Old Song podcast.
Before Carroll passed, family and friends waited patiently for the day that she would be well enough to join them for visits and fellowship. Now, Carroll waits patiently for her family and friends to be done with the challenges of this world so that they can join her in their own time.
Carroll’s charitable and compassionate interests were broad and varied. For those who would like to make memorial contributions, we encourage you to make them to the charitable organization of your choice.
Carroll is survived by her parents, David and Elisa Crowder; her brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Elizabeth Crowder; and a host of extended family and faithful friends.
