Carolyn Sue Moore

Carolyn Sue Bensing Moore, 83, of Lorena, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 9, 2024 surrounded by family. Sue was born on August 1, 1940, in Huntsville, Arkansas. She grew up on many farms in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. After graduating high school in Hobbs, New Mexico, she worked as a legal secretary. That is when she met the love of her life, Jesse Lee Moore, of 56 years.  They moved to Harker Heights, Texas, and built their first home where they welcomed their children, Nancy and Jesse Warren. A short time later, they moved to Waco, TX.

She always had many stories to share from her childhood. Sue loved gardening, arts and crafts, and anything that involved family. She was very involved in the Baptist Church as a Children’s Church Coordinator . She was a florist for 15 years before working at Baylor University as Student Union Building Event Coordinator for 23 years. She received the Outstanding Staff Award in 1992 and retired in 2003. She was a sweet and caring person that had many lifelong friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lee Moore; parents Everette and Ruby Bensing; brother, David Bensing; brother-in-law, Edward Moore and wife Rose; brother-in-law, Ricky Green; and father and mother--in-law, Jesse A and Lena Moore.

Sue is survived by her sister, Rhonda Green; daughter, Nancy Muhlman and husband Pat; son, Jesse W. “Scooter” Moore and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Amanda Foster and husband Jackie; Natasha Garcia and husband Javier; Ryan Muhlman and fiancé Rachael; Caitlyn Patton and husband Thomas; great-grandchildren, Bryson and Lathan Foster, Braxton Garcia, and Taylor Patton; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sue’s name to the Lorena Volunteer Fire Department.
