On July 6, 2024, while surrounded by her loved ones, Beverly Pitts Naud, an accomplished educator, confidant, mentor, and friend, went home to her Lord and Savior.
Beverly, known affectionately to friends and family as “Bev”, was born July 8, 1936 to Douglas and Jo Pitts in Waco, Texas. A 1954 graduate of Temple High School and a 1958 alumnus of Texas Woman’s University, Bev was a proud healthcare advocate and educator. She spent her early career as a nurse before transitioning to higher education, ultimately retiring in 1992 as a tenured professor at Baylor University School of Nursing. In her three decades of service she touched the lives of countless patients and students alike.
Outside of the hospital and classroom, Bev enjoyed simple pleasures like the purple hues of African violets, square dancing, and games with grandkids. She was an early adopter of the original Nintendo and even mastered Zelda on Xbox. Bev adored her family above all else and found immense joy in watching it grow over the years.
There was perhaps no one more important in her life than her forever love, Royce Naud. The two married in 1982 and were true best friends in every way. Royce saw in Bev what so many others did: a kind, giving person who was always available to those in pain or in need of care. Serving as her devoted caretaker even as her health declined, Royce steadfastly returned her love and support throughout their many years together.
Along with her husband Royce, Bev is survived by her daughter Donna Hawkins (Boyd) and son Bill Shea (Carol); grandchildren Taylor Hawkins (Aubrey), Lindsey Ramos (Jon), and Jarrett Stanley (Marissa); great grandchildren Jaylin, Rylan, Cheyann, and Josephine; siblings Carol George Runy (John) and Wayne Pitts (Joan); and step-daughters Michelle, Caroline, Susan, and Natalie; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, and who will always lover her.
