Betty Jean Morris, 83, of Waco passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be Friday, April 3, 2026 from 5 to 7pm at Waco Memorial Funeral Home. Her life will be celebrated Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Betty was born on June 3rd, 1942 in Hill County, Texas to Ella Annie Markwardt and Otto Markwardt. She graduated from St. Mark Lutheran School in 1956 and eventually started her work in food service at TSTC. This led her to begin her career at Waco ISD where she worked for many years before her retirement in 2004.
Betty was married to the love of her life, Wendell Morris for 45 years before his passing in 2005. Betty and Wendell had 3 children together, Pamela, Gary, and Larry. Betty loved to crochet and work in her garden. She also loved to watch game shows and the Dallas Cowboys on TV. She also enjoyed going out to Bingo and to Church. She will be forever remembered and loved by everyone she knew.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Morris; her daughter, Pamela Perry; her sisters, Sherry Orth and Ella Mae Helm; and her parents, Ella Annie Markwardt and Otto Markwardt.
Betty will be cherished and remembered in love by her children, Gary Morris and Larry Morris and his wife Jodie Morris; siblings, Linda McDaniel, Elsie Markwardt, Otto Markwardt, and William Markwardt; grandchildren, Michael Perry, Taitlyn Wise, and Mason Morris; and too many other nieces and nephews to count.
