Audra A. Lewis, 95, went to be with Jesus on Friday, November 3, 2017. “Chick”, as she was affectionately known, died peacefully in her daughter and son-in-law’s home. Born to Mordecai and Julie Belle Brown in Ozark, Missouri, on December 10, 1921. She lived in Waco for over 60 years. Married to Lloyd Lewis for 62 years, he preceded her in death; as did their daughter, Penne Rae Lewis Self. Survived by daughter, Nancy Jane Lewis Rood and husband, Doug Rood; grandchildren, Lindsey Rood Steele, Benjamin Rood, and Elizabeth Rood Allen. Additional blessings were five great-grandchildren, Mary and Rosie Rood, Lucy, Josie and Henry Steele. As a nurse for both Hillcrest and the VA hospitals, she was very active as a volunteer at: Richfield Christian Church – a member for 53 years, Nurses for Christ, Mission Waco, Friends for Life, Gideon’s Women Auxiliary, Hospice, and was best known for her campaign – Clean Language. In addition, she served at the local county jail visiting the incarcerated women for 18 years encouraging them to give their life to the Lord Jesus. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum, officiated by the Rev. David Story and the Rev. Alec Ylitalo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gideon International. The family wishes to thank Wilma Cochran for her assistance, her church family of Richfield, and Baylor Scott & White Hospice for their incredible care for three years
