Judith Taft

July 21, 1947 — March 4, 2022

On Friday, March 4th, 2022, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Judith Estelle “Judy” Taft went to be with her Lord and Savior. She passed away peacefully at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Waco, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. She had recently become ill and fought a very courageous battle for more than a month. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 10am, at the McGregor Cemetery. Judy was 74 .

A gathering, for those who wish to attend, will be held at The Coffee Shop in McGregor after the service. Parties attending will be responsible for their own tickets.

Judy was born on July 21st, 1947 in McGregor, Texas to Lawrence William Bourassa and Edith Estelle Bourassa. She attended school in McGregor. She Married Vernon L. Coplen on August 29, 1964, and they had two children. They divorced in 1997. She married Gerald Taft in 2001, and they were married until his death in 2010. Judy was a homemaker her entire life, and she dedicated her life to raising her two sons, Vernon and Brian.

Judy enjoyed all kinds of crafting and painting. She loved to put together 5000 piece puzzles and play hidden object games on her computer. She loved all 15 of her grandkids, Deanie, William, Hayley, Tyler, Tristian, Austan, Elizabeth, Aeryn, Brooklyn, Kyle, and Cade, James, Lacey, Emily, Brenden, and her new 3 month old great grandbaby, Kinsley Grace. She was fierce, headstrong, feisty, and full of spunk, all the way up until her final days. She will be dearly missed by all of those who knew her and shared memories with her.

Judy was preceded in death by her Father, Lawrence Bourassa, Mother, Edith Meine, Step-Father, Homer Adrian “Willie” Williams, Maternal Grandparents, Ella and Charlie Randall, Paternal Grandparents, Peter and Azelda Bourassa, Husband, Gerald Taft, Brother Peter Bourassa, Brother Homer Williams, Step-Daughter Sandra Brannen, and Step-Son Gerald Taft, Jr,. She is survived by her two sons, Vernon Coplen and daughter-in-law, Heather, and Brian Coplen and daughter-in-law, Shelley, one Brother, John Williams and wife Thao, one Sister, Anne Norman and Husband Mike, one step-daughter, Sherrie Taft, her 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the healthcare workers at Baylor Scott and White in Waco for their steadfast and excellent care they gave Judy during her month-long stay there. We couldn’t have asked for better care for her. An online guestbook will be available at www.wacofhmp.com.
