Basilio Perez Jr.

August 26, 1949 — July 5, 2021

How does one say all the things that Basilio (Bass) is to everyone? One could create a list of what he did with his time or enjoyed doing. He loved playing basketball in the driveway with family along with watching his Cowboys and Spurs. For those who met Bass would never recognize him at a little league game, this soft spoken and reserved man you would see at work or dinner would be cheering and arguing calls the loudest.

Bass enjoyed family time, trips, movies, catfish and tolerated camping, hiking, babysitting and dressing up like a chicken and dancing on his birthday just to make his family smile and laugh. Basilio was a family man first. He was all the revered traits in one man. He was kind, patient, understanding, fair, fun, silly, giving and best of all he loved unconditionally. He once took in a young man who needed stability and gave him a place to call home. He even accepted two young men to join his family and even welcomed them as sons with arms wide open, even if it was just to add a little testosterone to a house full of women.

In all seriousness, I believe Basilio’s legacy really lies within his wife, children and grandchildren. The values he instilled may not be consciously though of but carried on in their daily lives and teachings. Bass truly believed in his Lord and Savior. In return the Lord blessed him with three wonderful grandsons and a beautiful granddaughter. Every day he lived being kind, loving, accepting and showed what it meant to put your family on a pedestal and taking on the responsibility of protecting, providing, and treat them a way a man should. Basilio’s heart just outgrew his limited body and God freed him to expand his reach and watch over you all forevermore. Today we say goodbye to one of God’s greatest people and celebrate the addition of a magnificent Angel.

Bass is survived by his wife of 50 of years, Linda, his two daughters Sarah McMahan (Troy) and Amy Carrizales (Micah); 4 grandchildren Jacob, Danielle, Caleb and Joshua; his three sisters Alma, Gloria and Rosemary and his three brothers Frank, David, and Paul.
