Wilma Faye (Goodnight) Lechler, 80, passed away at her residence in Waco, Texas April 30, 2015.Funeral service will be 11:00a.m., Saturday, May 2, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors with Pastor Troy Cobbs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Wilma was born to Sammie Dene and Grace (Hannah) Goodnight April 9, 1935 in Waco. She attended China Spring Schools and married George Lechler on August 22, 1951. Wilma loved old gospel music and sang in a group with her sister called the Joy Sisters. She loved to attend horse races and was the caretaker of the local Boy Scouts of America for over 20 years. Wilma was a great mother and will be missed.She is preceded in death by her sons, Ricky George and Larry Dean; husband of 58 years; brother, Big Charlie Goodnight and sister, Vaughn Newman.Survivors include her son, Brad Lechler; grandchildren, Josh Lechler, Michael Lechler and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Tanya Welch and husband Elton and Geraldine Goodnight Bartini and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.The family would like to thank the staff at Providence Hospice for their love and care of Wilma in her last days.
