Willie Stone, 68, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in a local hospital.
Willie was born January 6, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee to Willie Phillips and Bertha Mae Gooden. Willie married Gloria Marie Bell on June 30, 1966 in Dallas, Texas. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the Air Force after serving 26 years. He also retired as a Mail Carrier from the Postal Service.
Willie was preceded in death by his father, Willie Phillips; and brothers, Forrest "Mack" Stone and Eddie C. Stone.
Those left behind to cherish Willie's memories are his loving wife of 44 years, Gloria M. Stone; mother, Bertha M. Stone; son, Rodney Stone and wife, Renee; grandson, Darryl Stone; sisters, Geraldine Amos and Earline Wright; brother, Lindell Stone; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Hood Street Church of Christ, 228 Hood Street, with Brother Leon Ivory officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 18, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Willie was born January 6, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee to Willie Phillips and Bertha Mae Gooden.
