William P. WaltonJanuary 24, 1945 ~ January 3, 2008 William "Pee Wee" Walton passed away Jan. 3, 2008. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 pm Sun., Jan. 6. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Mon., Jan. 7 at Connally/Compton Chapel with Brother Bertrand Bilton officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park. William "Pee Wee" Walton was born in Waco, TX on Jan. 24, 1945 to Lela Lucille Carroll Walton and Winger Walton (who preceded him in death). He was reared by his mother and grandmother, Mary Ann Carroll (who also preceded him in death). William became a member of Edwards Chapel A.M.E. Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Johnson. He participated in the choir, Sunday School and all youth activities. He attended elementary school at J. H. Hines and middle school at G. L. Wiley. He graduated from A. J. Moore High School in 1963 where he was active in the J. A. Kirk Chorus, and Moore High Lions basketball and football teams. William attended Prairie View A & M University and was a member of the ROTC. He also attended Paul Quinn College for three years and McLennan Community College for one year. William was employed at Ridgewood Country Club for seven years as manager – 19th Hole. He was also employed as a driver at Central Freight Lines for 34 years where he made many friends throughout Central Texas. He was loved by everyone he met because he never met a stranger. Anyone that came in contact with William for any length of time was soon enamored by his personality. Central Freight Lines recognized and presented him with numerous awards for his outstanding service, dedication and safe driving achievements. On August 7, 1964, her married Beverly Franklin and to this union two children were born, Phyllis Annalynn and William Allen (who preceded him in death). Precious memories will always be remembered by his dedicated wife of 43 years, Beverly Jean Walton; daughter, Phyllis Jones and Terry; cousin who was like a brother, Charles Burks; daughter-in-law, Shondria Walton Augustine; grandson, Stefan Dion Walton; granddaughter, Sky Olivia Walton; aunt, Willie Helen McCallum; and a host of relatives and friends. Special thanks to his cousins, Henry Bonner and wife, Shirley, William "Billy" Black, Codell Bonner and Ruth Ollivette Russell and his very devoted sister-in-law, Helen Franklin Rutland.
