William Ross Thompson, 57, of Robinson, departed this life and was welcomed by his Lord and Savior on Fri., June 2, 2006 while surrounded by his loving family. For a year and a half he fought a courageous battle with cancer. Come share in the celebration of William's life at 2 p.m., Monday, June 5, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Jim Fitzhugh and Steve Oates officiating, with burial to follow in Crawford Cemetery.Visitation with family and friends will be from 4 to 6 on Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the funeral home. William Ross was born the son of Sherman Ross and Ellen Pauline Shipman Thompson on January 27, 1949 in Clifton, Texas. William was truly an ambassador for Christ. His life spoke of his love for God, and his ministry was devoted to sharing the "Good News" of God's love for mankind. Jesus came to seek and to save those which are lost. He will be truly missed, but the life he lived and the love he shared will continue to speak into people's lives. Preceding William in death was his father, Ross Thompson. Surviving him are his wife, Brenda Thompson of Robinson; sons, James Ross Thompson, Dwayne Allen Thompson and wife, Sharanda, and Wesley Dale Thompson and wife, Rachel, all of Robinson; grandchildren, Kelby, Bailey Ross, Jacey "Sassafras", Monty, Colby, Lauren and Wesley Dale Thompson, II; mother, Pauline Thompson of Valley Mills; brothers, Nick Thompson and wife, Sharon and Billy Thompson and wife, Gwen, all of Valley Mills; sisters, Loretta Henderson and husband, Joe of Longview and Willie Abel and husband, Jack of Bellmead; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be James Bridges, Blu Bryant, L. D. Howard, Billy Shane Thompson, Mike Thompson and James Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Abel, Jr., Harold Butler, Jimmy Courtney, Craig Ellis, Steven Gilmore, Larry Hilliard, and Dusty Scoggins.
