Mr. William R. Johnson Sr., 79, of Waco, died Saturday, July 30, 2005. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug, 2 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Wooley officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Waco Memorial Park.Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 29, 1925, in Lorena, to Vetis Lee Johnson. He was reared in Falls county by Everett and Ada Ann Johnson. He served in the U.S. Navy a total of 14 years, 2 months and 24 days and achieved the rank of E-6 at the time of his retirement. His hobbies included camping, fishing and cooking, but his prime interest was in baseball. He was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Chruch.Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth; mother, Vetis L. Johnson Wooley; sisters Dessie Johnson Vaughn and Allie Johnson Conley; brothers Royce Wooley; Obert Johnson and E.W. Johnson.He is survived by daughters, Sandra K Chapman and husband, Bob of Hewitt and Phylicia G. Hernandez and husband, Steve of Lorena; son William (Bill) R. Johnson, Jr. of Tom Bean; grand-daughters, Amanda E. Chapman Sutherland and husband, Richie ; Amy L. Chapman all of Hewitt, Jessica L. Hernandez Alford and husband, Matt of PA., Angela M. Hernandez of Lornea, Chassidy Johnson of Waco; grand-son Keith Hernandez of Lorena; great grand-son Ethan R. Chapman of Hewitt, great grand-daughters, Stormie Johnson of Waco and Ella E.
