Wanda Ethelene Schoellkopf of West, TX, passed on July 30, 2024 at the age of 95, after a long battle with complications with Dementia. Wanda developed Aspiration pneumonia mid July and was hospitalized up until July 22, 2024 . She was discharged back to West Rest Haven to live out the rest of her life under palliative care, which ended on July 30 2024.
Graveside service will be Wednesday August 7th at 10 AM in Oakwood Cemetery with Reverend David Cozart officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 6PM-8PM at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors.
Wanda was born on November 4, 1928 to Bernice Kemp and Mattie Ruby Kemp both from Blue Ridge Texas.Wanda had 7 siblings 5 of whom have passed Lillian Speed, Dorthenel Bolt, Bo Kemp, Janet Baker, Anne Stroud, and two living Gerald Kemp and Sue Eastham
On April 27, 1950 she married her husband of 74 yrs , Glenn Nelson Schoellkopf, They had three children , Donna Quinn Schoellkopf of The Woodland Texas, Charles Glenn Schoellkopf of West, TX, and Toye Lynn Schoellkopf and husband Robert Melton Guinn of West TX.
Wanda worked for then Southwestern Bell started out as an operator and later transitioned into a warehouse, coordinator in Houston, TX, retiring after 37 yrs of service.
Wanda and Glenn had 4 grandchildren , Glenda Poland, Renee Harvey, Nolan Ryan Guinn and Wade Nelson Guinn and his wife Ashtyne Guinn and 9 Great - Grandchildren Brittany Poland, Austin Poland, Evangelina Harvey, Cash Harvey, Matilda Guinn, Crue Guinn, Canyon Guinn, Titus Guinn, and Lawson Guinn.
Wanda was involved with the Cub Scouts Boy Scouts along with her husband Glenn. Troop 590.
After retirement, he and his wife, Wanda took to the open highways of America, Mexico, and Canada, traveling with their 5th wheel, enjoying their retirement and then spent a summer exploring Europe.
Both Wanda and Glenn volunteered for the SW Bell Pioneers Eye Glass Center, making glasses for those who less fortunate. They esp worked closely with HISD in this venture. Also part of the Pioneers they made care packages for the troops (Fort Hood), and decorated 12' Christmas trees and distributed to the troops and children in hospitals. Also sewed together Care bears, which were made from scrapes
of cloth/materials and sewed together, no two were exactly the same , for the troops and various organizations for children, orphanages and CPS of Harris County. Wanda and Glenn were avid Ballroom and square dancers. They both love to trip that light fantastic .
