Verna Jo "V.J." Edmondson, 56, of Hewitt passed away at her residence early Friday, December 19, 2003. Services will be 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with Reverend Pat Patton officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville at 3:30 p.m. Sunday with Reverend Larry Arnold officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Verna Jo was born to LaVerne and Betty Jo Gillespey Gray in Pauls Valley, Okla. on Oct. 21, 1947. She married Richard Glen Edmondson on July 4, 1965. Verna Jo was a "soccer mom" to hundreds of kids and a twenty year employee of Graham Embroidery. She was a Baptist and a lovely lady whose smile would light up a room! Verna Jo possessed a rare quality in that she always spoke positive about everyone, and one would be hard pressed to find someone who had a negative word to say about her. LaVerne Gray, Verna Jo's father, preceded her in death.Surviving Verna Jo are her husband, Richard Edmondson of Hewitt; son, Jeffrey Edmondson of Waco; daughter, Christina Karnes and husband, Jim of Leander; mother, Betty Gray of Whitesboro; grandson, Trey Karnes of Leander; brother, Joe Gray and wife, Kathy of Whitesboro; sister, Carolyn Castleberry and husband, Pat of Whitesboro; grandmother, Lucille Dunn Gillespey of Nowata, Okla.; nieces, Mindy West and husband, Dax, Tenise and Elisa Gray; and her best friend, Loyce Park and her family.Memorials may be made to the Susan G.
