Syble Culverhouse, 92 years old, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 5, 2005. Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel, the Reverend David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park-North. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 pm Friday, at the funeral home.Syble was born in Leroy, Texas, December 16, 1912, to Luther Benjamin and Dora Latricia Cagle Kelley. She became the matriarch of her household at an early age following the paralysis of her father, causing her to take over running the farm and helping to care for her family. She married Roy Odell Culverhouse October 16, 1930 and they were business partners as well as marriage partners until his death, on Thanksgiving Day, 1977. They were co-owners of The Waco Stage Equipment Company, which led them to criss-cross the great state of Texas many times. Syble's courageousness, kindness and gentleness as a lady inspired her children to emulate those same traits. She kept the family unified with her forgiving heart and ability to instill in them the same. She was known to her family and many of her friends as "Mama Covie" and was famous for being a great cook with several special dishes! Syble was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and of the Eastern Star. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Velda Spray; grandchildren, Ronnie O. Andrews and Randy Eugene Hungerford. She is survived by a son, Lloyd O. Culverhouse of Waco; daughters, Dorothy L. Andrews of Dallas, Jean Hungerford of Greenville and Wanda A. Miller of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Alta Crouch of Wichita Falls; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Bob & Carl Andrews, Dustin, Jimmy, Michael & Ricky Culverhouse, and Hossein Guivehchi. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Hungerford & Anthony Rosas.
