Susie Rangel Montoya
July 28, 1939 – September 30, 2010

Susie Rangel Montoya, 71, departed from her loving earthly home for his heavenly one on Thursday, September 30, 2010.
Susie was born July 28, 1939 in Rosebud, Texas to Andres and Santos (Rincon) Rangel. She married Joe Alonzo Montoya on September 19, 1959 and were owners of Montoya's Shoe Service. Upon his death in 1983, Susie and her son operated the business and she retired in 2005. She had recently worked for Texas Farm Bureau as the Food Court Cashier and was known there as the "best popcorn lady". She was a devout Catholic and prepared herself to join our Lord's gates of heaven. Susie loved her companion, Henry Gonzales Jr., and they shared many memories together. She loved dancing, music and traveled to various destinations to visit her daughters. Her recent venture was a Cruise in Sept. 2009. Her grandchildren, who called her Grandma Susie, adored her and she made all efforts to attend their special occasions and school activities.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents; Pantaleon Rangel who was a father to her; her loving husband, Joe A. Montoya; Duane Rangel who was a brother to her; and aunt, Mary Lou Martinez.
Those left behind to cherish Susie's memory are her daughters, Debra M. Montelongo and Dena Chavez and husband, Vic; son, Joe Alonzo Montoya Jr. and wife, Irene; loving companion, Henry Gonzales Jr.; mother, Juanita Rincon Rangel and Felix Hurtado; sister, Virginia Carbajal and husband, Mingo; brothers, Sam Rangel and wife, Linda, Leon Rangel Jr. and wife, Barbara, Lupe Rangel and wife, Elosia, Andrew Rangel and wife, Rosemary, Jesse Rangel and wife, Mary, and Carlos Rangel; grandchildren, JoAnna DeLeon and husband, Christopher, Amber Freeman and husband, Henry, Danielle Chavez, Orlando Montelongo, Alyssa Montelongo, Desi Suzann Chavez and Jesse Joe Chavez; great grandson, Orlando Montelongo Jr.; and soon to be born, great granddaughter, Mia Suzann DeLeon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Father Gonzalo Ferrer, Celebrant. Burial will follow at Santa Cruz Cemetery near Asa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Susie's memory may be made to Santa Cruz Cemetery in care of St. Francis Catholic Church.
