Obituary

Mr. Stancel "Stan" Howard Price, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, January 04, 2012 at his home in Chilton, Texas. Funeral service will be Sat. Jan. 7, at 2 PM at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Rev. Curt Kruschwitz officiating and burial to follow in the Chilton Cemetery in Chilton, Texas. Visitation will be on Sat. Jan. 7, from 11 AM-1:00 PM at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Stan was born on October 14, 1938 to Dante M and Carrie Martin Price in Waco, Texas. Stan graduated in 1957 from University High School where he earned a football scholarship which he used to attend Navarro Junior College. He served in the Texas National Guard for eight years. Stan married Wanda Jo Sawyer on March 24, 1962, and they had two children Melynda Ash of Chilton and Stan Price Jr., of Robinson. Stan joined the Masonic Lodge 1431 in 1975 and was an active member of the Cedar Creek Chapter until his move to Chilton, Texas area in 1983. He was a Master Mason and kept in good standing through all the years of his illness. While living in the Cedar Creek Lake area, Stan served as City Councilman and worked with Marvin E. "Gene" McDonald to help establish the Seven Points Volunteer Fire Department. Stan became a Private in the Dallas Fire Department in 1968. He suffered an injury that cut his career short in 1979. He was so proud of his years in Civil Service being able to help those in their most trying times of need. He felt this was his greatest accomplishment in his life. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Dante M. and Carrie Price. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Price of Chilton; daughter, Melynda Ash and husband, Steve; son, Stan Price Jr., and wife, Nancy; Six grandchildren, Kim Ash, Kris Ash, Kassie Ash, Jordan Ash, Nick Price, Brandon Price and two great-grandchildren, Liam Ash and Matthew Garcia; nephews, John Sawyer,Tyson Sawyer, Michael Sawyer, Tyler Sawyer, Noah Sawyer; and nieces, Stephanie Staggs, Brooklyn Sawyer.
