Shirley May CobbMay 17, 1912 ~ May 15, 2010 Shirley May Adams Cobb, of Waco, passed from life Saturday, May 15, 2010, two days short of her 98th birthday. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Temple, Texas under the auspices of The Order of Eastern Star and Pastor Chris Mesa officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 17, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Shirley was born May 17, 1912 in Temple, Texas to Frank and Ollie Braun Adams. Shirley was a graduate of Temple High School and was twice voted Miss Temple in the 1930's. Waco was her home for 70 years where she was a 60 plus year charter member of The Order of Eastern Star Walter Baldwin Chapter No. 929, a 50 year member and participant of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church and a member of NARVRE. Shirley was a guileless pleasant homemaker and everyone's friend, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who beat cancer three times in her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilburn L. Cobb; and sister, Francis Gregory Palmer. Those left behind to cherish her memories are her son, Frank Cobb and wife, Veronica, of Austin, Texas; daughter, Sheryl L. York and husband, Jim, of China Spring, Texas; 1 granddaughter and 2 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eastern Star Chapters, Austin Avenue United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
