Ruth L. SpringfieldApril 30, 1916 ~ April 6, 2010 Ruth L. Springfield, 93, of DeSoto, formerly of Waco, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in Dallas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Dr. Herb Pedersen of Duncanville officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service. Ruth was born April 30, 1916 to Burl Abner and Sela Beatrice (Rowland) Wilks in Gainesville, TX. Ruth and her husband, Rev. Preston W. Springfield, served together for 13 years at Beverly Hills Baptist Church and Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Waco. She was also a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco. Ruth worked for over 35 years at R.E. Cox's Department Store. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 65 years, Rev. Preston W. Springfield; son, Dr. James David Springfield; and grandson, David Springfield II. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sue Stadler and husband, Roger; daughter-in-law, Ruth P. Springfield; grandchildren, James Heath and wife, Julie, Georgia Williams and husband, Ray, Kimberly Taylor and husband, Michael, Jami Goode and husband, Mark, Sherri Springfield, Wesley P. Springfield; great grandchildren, Jon Heath, Ryan Heath, Michelle Gibson and husband, Kyle, Aaron Williams, David Collins, Anneliese Taylor, Vincent Taylor, Malkiah Taylor, Elizabeth Goode, Robert Goode, Bryce Springfield; cousin, Dr. Samuel Shultz and family; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
