Robert E. Stockburger, 88, of Waco passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at a hospital in Fort Worth.A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 9 at Oakwood Cemetery at 2:30pm.Robert was born on December 21, 1923 in Gatesville, Texas to Robert and Vera Stockburger. He married the love of his life, Anita Hancock, on October 23,1944. Robert was an Elder at the Northside Church of Christ and then at Cedar Ridge Church of Christ. He was a graduate of the University of Houston and always had a love of learning, books and music. He enjoyed doing genealogy and historical research. Even in his last years he gained computer proficiency and loved to master new technologies. He and Anita had five children together and enjoyed a long, happy marriage.Robert is preceded in death by his great-grandson, Zayne Wade.Robert is survived by his wife, Anita Stockburger; sons, Dr. Robert Stockburger and wife Marcille, and David Stockburger and wife Kathy; daughters, Brenda Hand and husband John, Mary Penelope Stewart and husband Ronnie, and Venita Bouska; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.The family would like to extend thanks and gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Kindred Hospital Southwest for all their loving care.
