Richard was born May 22, 1936 in Earth, Texas to R. W. McCaskill and Gladys Henderson. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Most of his career was spent in the power generation industry. He served in many roles including Vice President and General Manager of Brazos Electric Power Cooperative until his retirement in 1996. He served on several boards and service organizations including Board Director of Lake Air National Bank; Board Director of Texas Electric Cooperative Association; Director and Chairman of the Board of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas; General Manager and Board Director of San Miguel Electric Cooperative; he was recently recognized for 50 years of service as a Mason for Denver City, TX Lodge #1278; he was a member of Karem Shriners of Waco, TX.
Richard enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Linda, of 30 years. Countless memories were made on their ranch in Moody, TX. They raised cattle, horses, donkeys, fed wildlife, trapped hogs, and grew hay for the livestock. Most special for Richard was spending time with his grandkids - fishing, hunting, riding in the Jeep, riding the 4-wheeler, or riding on one of the many farm tractors he maintained (with his secret ingredient WD-40). Richard was fond of dogs and loved many over the years, both big and small, especially his rescue lap dog "Cooper".
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Barbara Faye McCaskill; aunt Rosie Herring; sister Barbara Lynn Lewis; and son-in-law Todd Nickel.
Survivors include wife Linda McCaskill; daughter Judy Parr & husband David and their children Ellen Parr; Madelene Cundall and husband Charles; Eric Parr and wife Laura; son Justin McCaskill and wife Ellen; step daughter Stacey Nickel and her children Skylea Nickel and Trenton Nickel; step daughter Shelley Crye and husband Brad and their children Austin Crye and girlfriend Sarah Allen; Tyler Crye and wife Emma.
