Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow at Mart Cemetery in Mart, TX. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the funeral home. Richard was born April 13, 1949 to F.L. and Margaret Blankenship in Odessa, TX. Richard was preceded in death by his father, F.L. Blankenship; mother, Margaret "Nikkie" Jansen; brother, Steven Brady; and sisters, Barbara Moody and Karen Jensen. Those left behind to cherish Richard's memory are his son, Paul Engelke; daughters, Julie Ratcliff and husband, Justin, and Rebecca Hughes and husband, Wesley; brother, Michael Blankenship and wife, Helen; sisters, Sandra Brooks and husband, Leslie, and Kathy Owen and husband, Dudley; grandchildren, Breanna Pickens, Kelby Sultemeier and Lexie Hughes; a cousin who was like a brother to him, Danny McCorkle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
