Pete MartinezAugust 1, 1938 ~ May 5, 2007 Pete Martinez, 68, of Waco passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2007 at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Roman Burgos as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 10, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. Pete was born to Frutoso and Ventura Garcia Martinez on August 1, 1938 in Elm Mott, Texas. Besides being a wonderful loving son, brother, husband, father and grandpa, Pete enjoyed taking his mother out to lunch and then for many a long drive. He could listen to music for hours on end and did his best to make that accordion sing! Preceding him in death were his father, Frutoso Martinez; and brother, Serapio "Chuck" Martinez. Those left behind to cherish his memory are wife, Carmen Martinez of Waco; mother, Ventura Martinez of Waco; sons, Jessie Kirks & wife, Cynthia, Raymond Kirks & wife, Andrea and Pete Martinez, Jr. all of Waco; daughter, Candy Kirks & husband, Jesse Love of Waco; brother, Gilbert "Gil" Martinez & wife, Annette of Waco; sisters, Teresa Sanchez of Austin, Pauline Gonzales & husband, Gilbert of Waco, Sandra LaManna of San Diego, CA and Nora Martinez of Waco; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center nurses and doctors (especially Dr. Ross Shipp) for the wonderful care and attentiveness they showed our family.
