Paula R. Grinie, 88 of Waco, peacefully entered eternal heavenly rest surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 1 PM at Connally/ Compton Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at the funeral home.
Paula was born to Justo and Julia (Rodriguez) Ramirez in Reagan, Texas on June 29,1933.
The oldest of 6, she was called upon at a young age to help her family.
Formal schooling took a back seat to working the cotton fields. Despite only receiving a 5th grade education, she was extremely bright in both knowledge and common sense.
While attending church in Marlin, Texas, a young suitor by the name of Margarito Grinie continuously tried to woo her and was continuously shot down. She finally gave in and gradually fell in love with him. To avoid conflict with her mother regarding getting married, Paula put on her black and white polka dot dress and eloped with Margarito on September 19th, 1955. To this union, 5 children were born-Samuel, Alex, Joshua, Steven, and Christine. They shared 29 years of matrimony until Margarito's death in 1984.
Paula was a devoted Christian who at the time of her death, attended both Templo Nueva Vida and Tierra De Bendicion churches. She never drove, so she went wherever her ride went. But it didn't matter what congregation she was with, she would love the Lord with all her heart, clapping and raising her tiny hands up to glorify God.
Paula's life calling was to be the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, Tia, cousin, and friend. She had a true servant's heart. She joyfully took care of everyone and spoiled her entire family in her own special way. She was always there to listen to anyone's problems and her small shoulders gave strength to many who needed someone to lean on. She was the fiercest prayer warrior, who constantly prayed over her loved ones.
There are not adequate words to describe how amazing and wonderful this woman was. It has been said that where there is deep grief, there was great love. She fiercely loved us all, and we loved her back the same way. She was always giving, just giving of herself and her entire heart. We were granted a beautiful opportunity to be by her bedside for a few days before her passing. She, in a final act of giving, hung on long enough to this earthly life, to allow all her kids and a large portion of her extended family to say their goodbyes. On her last day on earth, all her children and several grandchildren fell asleep next to her in her hospital room, with the rest of the family sleeping in the waiting area. She passed away peacefully with family by her side, holding her hand, stroking that beautiful soft face and releasing her to her heavenly Father. She is now free of all pain and is rejoicing with the angels enjoying meaty ribs and sticking her pinky finger in her decaf coffee which surely is finally the perfect temperature.
Meeting Paula at the pearly gates were her parents, her beloved husband whom she missed dearly, her infant granddaughter Susan Renae, great-grandson Noah Angel, her brother Marcos, and her brother Alfonso.
Survivors include her sons Samuel (Terry) Grinie, Alex Grinie (Virginia), Joshua (Yolanda) Grinie, Steven (Noralyn) Grinie, and daughter Christine (Chris Anthony) Lopez, grandchildren Adam (Elizabeth) Grinie, Susan Grinie, Joshua Francisco (Mirella), Maggie (Antonio) Coronado, Amy (Joey)Cisneros,
