Patricia Mary McElroy Chinn joined her husband in Heaven on the morning of April 24, 2007 after a long and brave battle with Alzheimer's disease. Visitation at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors will be from 6 pm until 9 pm with Rosary recited promptly at 6 pm on Thurs. April 26. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Friday at St Louis Catholic Church with a 3:30 pm burial at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas. Born on March 20, Patsy was the second of five children born to Joseph and Eileen McElroy. She both embodied and embraced her roles as mother and sister and known for her live-and-let-live laughter. Those who adored her sensed her intellect and accessible empathy for those less blessed. She held her Catholic faith close to her heart and her heritage as an Irish descendant. As such, a sense of family was always steadfast throughout her life.Growing up in Dallas, Patsy became a US Navy nurse, after graduating from SMU. She was married to Dr. John H. Chinn, who preceded her in death in 1999. Together they raised six children and accomplished what many dream of, a marriage where they remained newlyweds for 50 years. Together, they lived in many Texas towns and cities before moving to the Waco-area in 1981. No matter where they lived, Patsy always created a home filled with love and laughter. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three siblings, Patsy is survived by one sister, Sheila Kendro, her six children John Chinn and wife Angela, Kathleen Chinn-Lambright and husband Michael, David Chinn and wife Margie, Rosemary Owens, Patricia Chinn and Michelle Chinn. Additionally, she is survived by three grandsons, John Patrick Chinn and wife Kay, Derrick Chinn, and David Harrison Chinn; one granddaughter, April Villa and husband Patrick, and one great-granddaughter, Avery Villa. Patsy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Hillcrest Community Hospice for the care and compassion they extended not only to Patsy, but to the family as well. We also thank the extended family members and friends for all of the love, support, and encouragement extended to us over the years, and especially during the ten days. The loss of people whose lives had meaning and love, laughter and giving are always strongly felt. For those who love and lose for years their cherished kin to Alzheimer's disease, this farewell is ongoing and profound.
