Myrtle Ouida Burdette, 94, formerly of Waco, precious and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and sister, peacefully entered heaven on Nov. 13, 2012, at her home. Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, Nov. 16, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors with Pastor Jimmy Dorrell officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Thursday, Nov. 15, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors. Myrtle was born January 29, 1918 in Douglas, Texas, to Earnest and Ethel Yates. She married Travis G. Burdette on June 6, 1941. She was a stay-at-home mother and an Avon sales representative for many years. She greatly enjoyed her Dallas Cowboys and her lovable cat, Angel.Mrytle was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, sister Johnny B. Yates, and brother G.W. Yates. She is survived by her son E.W. and wife Judy; daughter Pat and husband Tim Helmerich; sister Gene Strickhausen; grandchildren Alan and wife Rachel Burdette, Natalie and Bryan Underwood, Walter Faught, Corban Oliva, Jason Helmerich, Megan Helmerich and Jennifer Traudt; great grandchildren Jerusha and Isaiah Burdette, along with many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society and earmarked for breast cancer.
